And being not weak in faith, HE CONSIDERED NOT his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: HE STAGGERED NOT at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; Romans 4:19-20
The opening of the book of Romans begins dealing with the issue of what FAITH is and hypocrisy to faith. Later when Paul re-introduced Abraham in his letter to the church in Rome, we find that Paul identifying what faith looks like, shares a discovery revealed to him of the key to not staggering when going after the promises of God in the life of Abraham.
Simply put, in order to STAGGER NOT, there are some things you must CONSIDER NOT!
When it comes to believing God's promises for your life the premise of you faith in such promises ought NOT come from just WHAT you desire, WHAT you think, WHAT you dream to be true and hopeful, but simply WHAT word has The Lord was spoken to you!
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by THE WORD! Rom. 10:17
When Peter was walking on water towards Jesus, Peter did NOT have to consider the waves or the storm, but simply the word Jesus gave him..."COME". (Matt. 14)
It is when we take time to CONSIDER the reasons or circumstances of impossibilities, we begin to stagger in our walk, trust and faith in what Jesus said He promises.
In is common today in the Church of America that though we are blessed with much practical knowledge and God given revelation, we tend to be quick to consider the things that are at enmity against what God has spoken and try to reconfigure a way as to who God would go about bringing His promises to past. In other words we tend to partake more from the tree of knowledge rather than the tree of LIFE!
As for Abraham who was really just discovering the way of God, He had a faith imparted that if God spoke a LIFE word to him, then his knowledge of his anatomy was nothing to ponder, because for God to speak a LIFE word, God will have to alter Abraham's LIFE in order for the promises to come to pass!
I believe we do not see as many major physical miracles because we tend to be "too smart" for God to do it! God is NOT rocket science, He means what He says and says what He means. He is who He is. It is our regard and fear of God that brings about the knowledge of Him. It is when we depart from evil, that understanding will come! (Job. 28:28)
WHAT IS EVIL is the lie that encourages us to consider the natural circumstances to be more powerful than the divine intervention of God. The Bible says God will share His glory with NO OTHER. (Isaiah 42:8)
I encourage you if you find yourself staggering to believe God, consider not the things that seek to pull you away from experiencing the divine inherited intervention for your life spoken by His Word!
Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
